This Teacher's Book contains:

- complete teaching notes with suggestions for using the Student's Book and Workbook materials

- photocopiable tests

- extra photocopiable activities for classroom use

- an alphabetical word list with unit references to indicate where the words first appear.

The teaching notes for each unit consist of the following:

- Learning objectives - these outline the functional aims of each unit.

- Language focus - this lists the main areas of grammar and word grammar (e.g. prepositions, pronouns) focused on in the unit.

- Active vocabulary - an alphabetical list of the vocabulary items that students are expected to learn and use actively in speaking and writing. This list can also be used as a checklist of lexical items for testing purposes.

- Receptive vocabulary - these vocabulary items are intended for recognition only. Many of the items are included in written rubrics, and need not be tested.

- Materials - a checklist of the materials needed for the suggested activities in the teaching notes.

- Lead-ins - these are different options for introducing the students to the new unit.

- Background information - where appropriate, this section gives extra information about areas such as cultural features, style and register of language items, or concepts and objects that may be unfamiliar to the students.

- Tapescripts - these give the complete written version of all the materials on the cassette.

- Notes - where appropriate, these notes highlight features such as potential learner difficulties and suggested solutions, useful hints concerning the teaching of the language items and reminders to ask students to bring in materials for the next lesson.

- Answers - here you will find all the suggested answers to the tasks in the Student's Book.

- Workbook answers - suggested answers to tasks in the Workbook.

- Additional activities - these are designed to provide either extra material or alternative materials for practice, allowing you to adapt the course to suit your class and timetable.
